HESAA is the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority; it's the state organization that runs New Jersey state financial aid programs. HESAA is the organization that receives and processes your NJ Alternative Application, and you'll log into the HESAA NJFAMS portal to check your application status, submit any additional documents required of you, and see your grants and scholarships.
When do I contact HESAA?
If you have any problems with the NJ Alternative Application or NJFAMS, questions about your grants, or anything similar, you can reach out to HESAA for support.
How do I contact HESAA?
Calling is the fastest way to get in touch with support at HESAA: 609-584-4480 or 800-792-8670. Both lines can provide help in English and Spanish. Due to high call volume, students should expect to wait 45 minutes to 1 hour to be connected with a person who can help.
